Abstract:
189 black and white photos, various sizes and formats, apparently taken in Santa Barbara and environs, circa 1901-1903 (cf.
date on SB Chinatown photo and date of T. RooseveltÆs trip to Santa Barbara.) Includes assorted photos of otherwise unidentified
people (including baby photos, photos of what appear to be tourist activities, people in theatrical costumes etc.), 8 photos
from Santa BarbaraÆs Chinatown district (caption on one: ôSanta Barbara;ö ô Mabel & elda (sic) You Keeö in English; in Chinese
ô1901, Jin Jiao and Jin Ying;ö latter may be same names as those represented in Chinese characters). Also shown are several
identifiable Santa Barbara locales including: Cabrillo Blvd., Stearns Wharf and 4 of the Santa Barbara Mission. The mission
photos include several of Franciscan friars including one of Theodore Roosevelt with a friar at the mission. (Check for similar
